Energy

Availability of infrastructure facilities like Power, Bank, and Industrial accommodation in the form of plots and sheds, transport, communication and training institutions are important for the eventual development of industries. Infrastructure determines the pace of economic development of a region. Besides material and manpower resources, industrial development of any region depends heavily on the available infrastructural facilities.

Power Supply :Electricity is the basic infrastructure needed for the industrial development in the district. In Nagpur district, there are 29 Cities, 1874 Villages. At the end of the year 31 March 2006, all villages and towns have been got electrified (100%). During the year 2011-2012, 3847 million unit electricity has been consumed in the whole district as indicated in Table-E

NTPC Power plant Mouda

Located near village Kumbhari in Mouda Tehsil the first Greenfield project of NTPC in State of Maharashtra. It shall have two units of 500 MW in stage- I and two units of 660 MW will be taken up in stage -II with total installed capacity of 2320MW on completion.

Commissioning schedule.
Stage I(2X500MW)
Unit 1 (500 MW) commissioned on 08.04.2012 .
Unit 2 (500 MW) is scheduled for commissioning in March 2013.
Stage II (2X660 MW) :
Unit 3 (660 MW) : May 2016.
Unit 4 (660 MW) : November 2016.

Koradi Thermal Power Station:

(KTPS) is located at Koradi near Nagpur, The power plant is one of the four major power plants in Vidarbha – a power surplus region of India. The power station began operations in 1974 and is one of the nine active power stations operated by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MahaGenco), a subsidiary of Government of Maharashtra The plant operates 7 units and has a total power generation capacity of 1080 MW. Three units having capacity 660 M.W each have been proposed.

Kaparkheda Thermal Power Station:

(KTPS) is located in Nagpur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The power plant is one of the coal based power plants of MAHAGENCO. The coal for the power plant is sourced from Saoner and Dumri Khurd mines of Western Coalfields Limited. Source of water for the power plant is from Pench reservoir through a pond of Koradi Thermal Power Station. The plant operates 4units and has a total power generation capacity of 840 MW. One unit having capacity of 500 M.W has been proposed .
